Active Minds speaker helps NMSU students reframe mental health

 

"Using a peer-to-peer approach, Active Minds changes the conversation about mental health among adolescents and young adults, reduces stigma associated with mental health conditions, and establishes a culture of caring on college and university campuses.

Our programs and resources are built for students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the broad campus community to ensure long-term change at the individual, campus community, and policy levels. Active Minds prioritizes the student voice to ensure a student-driven and student-focused approach in mental health promotion. We inspire mental health advocates to have conversations that have the potential to save lives." Active Minds

Why did you join Active Minds?  I joined Active Minds because I believe mental health is something everyone deserves to talk about openly and without judgment. As a peer-led organization, Active Minds creates a supportive community where students can connect, find resources, and help break down the stigma surrounding mental health. Being part of this initiative allows me to advocate for others while helping create a campus where no one feels like they have to struggle alone.
Something fun about yourself or want others to know:  I have 2 cats Lenny and Margot who make everyday feel a little bit brighter

Why did you join the Active Minds?  I joined Active Minds because while we live in a climate where mental health is easier to talk about, it is still something where some lack the resources they need. To me, Active Minds gives students access to mental health resources and continues the conversations needed to be have about mental health for a better informed and educated NMSU community!
Something fun about yourself or want others to know:  I don't have a gallbladder!

Why did you join the Active Minds? 

I joined Active Minds because I believe everyone deserves accessible mental health resources and information. Being a part of this organization means I can do my part in reducing the stigma behind mental health, and making NMSU a safer and more welcoming enviroment. Mental health affects everyone in one way or another, and Active Minds is the place where young adults can gather without judgment and support each other. As Vice President, I strive to make Active Minds a place where students are heard, supported, and loved within their NMSU community.
Something fun about yourself or want others to know:  I love plants and to hear birds chirping and to see the sun shining.
